The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday rejected PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s petition for plea withdrawal, challenging his disqualification by the Election Commission of Pakistan in the Toshakhana reference.
IHC delivered its highly anticipated verdict today on Imran Khan’s petition challenging his disqualification in the Toshakhana reference.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had, on October 21, 2022, disqualified the former prime minister based on false statements and incorrect declarations.
Imran Khan challenged this decision in the IHC, requesting the court to overturn the judgment, arguing that the ECP lacked jurisdiction.
The IHC had reserved its verdict on September 13, 2023.
Additionally, a separate petition against Imran’s disqualification has been filed in the Lahore High Court.
This reference, related to the Toshakhana scam, alleges that Imran Khan violated rules by acquiring and selling gifts received between August 2018 and December 2021.
The Islamabad High Court will determine the outcome of Imran Khan’s plea in today’s verdict.
