The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to make Test batsman Asad Shafiq a selector and consultant.
Shafiq will be the first one from Karachi to be inducted into the PCB selection committee.
Sources say that Shafiq will take over from January 1 and will support Taseef Ahmed and Wahab Riaz in the New Zealand T20 series.
Shafiq will work with former Test cricketers Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt and Rao Iftikhar Anjum.
According to sources, Asad is currently participating in the national T20 and will inform about his availability in the next few days.
The Test cricketer, who has been out of the national team for four years, will start his duties by playing in the Sindh Premier League.
It should be mentioned that a few days ago, the PCB assigned former Test cricketers Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt and Rao Iftikhar Anjum as consultants to Chief Selector Wahab Riaz.
