Two cops involved in staged robbery of oil transporting vehicle

KARACHI: It emerged on Friday that two cops among four persons were involved in a staged robbery of an oil transporting vehicle on Kala Pul in Baloch Colony area of Karachi, Bol News reported.

Karachi East Police busted the fake robbery case in which the vehicle laden with oil was looted.

Four accused including two police officers involved in the incident were arrested, said DIG East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar.

“On November 23, Tipu Sultan police received a report of a robbery. Imran, the driver, reported that the vehicle full of oil was stolen. The incident was done by uniformed and plainclothes personnel, said the driver Imran,” the police officials reported.

During the investigation, the DIG East found evidence that the incident was suspicious. The incident of robbery was a drama, said Ghulam Azfar Mahesar.

Imran, the driver, along with his partner Nader, planned the incident, he maintained.

He said Police Constable Sheikh Ghalib and Constable Naveed also joined them. Both the officers were posted at RRF Police Headquarters South, he said.

The DIG said the motive of the key suspect was to get the insurance money from the company for stolen goods. The suspect also had to get the money by selling the oil’s cartons, he said.

He said the four suspects, including two police officers involved in the incident, were arrested.
