The federal cabinet on Thursday granted approval to the proposal for holding the jail trial of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
The decision was made following the order of special court judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain to conduct the trial in Adiala jail, citing security concerns.
The special court had ruled that the trial in the cipher case would take place in jail based on a security report by the superintendent of Adiala Jail.
The next hearing will be held at Adiala jail, allowing attendance by interested parties, including journalists.
The federal cabinet also approved the jail trial for the PTI chairman in corruption cases, following a request from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) due to the law and order situation.
The Ministry of Law and Justice had issued a notification on the trial in the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA), UK, and Toshakhana case to be conducted in prison.
