Abu Dhabi has unveiled Jais Climate, the world’s first bilingual large language model (LLM) dedicated to climate intelligence.

Developed in partnership between Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Core42, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based technology holding company G42, Jais Climate is designed to provide comprehensive and accurate information on climate change, sustainability, and the upcoming Cop28 conference in Dubai.

Trained on a massive dataset of climate-related text and code, Jais Climate offers a unique blend of language capabilities in English and Arabic. This bilingual approach addresses concerns raised about the potential bias of LLMs based solely on English, ensuring that climate information is accessible to a wider audience.

With over 1.4 million climate-related instructions, Jais Climate can answer questions, generate documents, translate texts, and provide advice on climate-related matters. Its ability to capture the nuances of various Arabic dialects and comprehend language context and cultural references further enhances its accuracy and relevance.
