KARACHI: At least six members of the same family were killed after a young driver allegedly chased their vehicle and rammed his car into theirs in DHA Phase 7 area of Lahore, Bol News reported on Thursday.

The government sources said the underage driver Afnan had a brawl with the victims before the incident. They said Afnan had been chasing the women sitting in the vehicle from Block Y.

Driver of the affected vehicle, Hasnain multiple times sped his vehicle away, but Afnan still followed them. Then, the driver stopped his vehicle on Y Block nullah and scolded Afnan. Hasnain’s father from the other vehicle also tried to make the suspect understand that he should not harass the women. Meanwhile, Afnan kept threatening and abusing them, said the sources within the Punjab caretaker government. The suspect threatened that he would not let them drive in DHA area.

When Hasnain drove away with his sister and wife, the suspect again started following them and hit their vehicle at 160 mph speed, which somersaulted Hasnain’s vehicle to a significant distance and all the family members boarding the vehicle died.

The sources said Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi had directed the inspector general to add terrorism charges in the case against the culprit. The sources quoted the affected family as saying that police were not cooperating with them. They said it was not an accident, it was a target killing.
