Dubai free bike program by RTA and Careem goes beyond the Ride

In a move to promote sustainable and accessible transportation options, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, in partnership with Careem Bike, is extending its free bike initiative beyond the Dubai Ride cycling event.

Building on the success of the collaboration during the Dubai Ride, where participants were offered complimentary bikes, the RTA and Careem have decided to continue this initiative, making it a regular feature for residents and visitors alike.

As part of the extended program, participants can still collect free bikes from Careem’s bike docking stations at key locations in the city, allowing individuals to explore Dubai at their convenience. The free bike program aligns with the city’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, promoting healthier lifestyles, and providing sustainable transportation alternatives.

Furthermore, the Careem Bike Rental Service will continue to be available at 192 stations across Dubai. During the extension of this initiative, the waiver of overtime fees for rides exceeding 45 minutes remains in effect, encouraging individuals to use bikes for both short commutes and leisure rides.

To access the free bike program, interested individuals can follow the same process initiated during the Dubai Ride event. By downloading the Careem app, clicking on the ‘Bike’ icon, and subscribing to the ‘Dubai Ride Pass,’ users can secure their free rides. The pass is available for download daily, providing a seamless experience for those looking to embrace sustainable mobility.

Bikes can be picked up not only from the original pop-up stations near Entrance A (MOTF) and Entrance E (Lower FCS), but also from any of the 192 Careem Bike docking stations situated strategically throughout Dubai. This extended initiative signifies the commitment of both the RTA and Careem to provide accessible and eco-friendly transportation solutions for the city’s residents.

Participants are reminded to bring their helmets for safety during the rides. Registration on the Dubai Ride website is still mandatory, and while card details are required for security, no charges will be applied for borrowing the bikes under this extended program.

This continued partnership between the RTA and Careem exemplifies the city’s dedication to sustainable urban development and underscores the importance of private-public collaborations in achieving long-term environmental and health goals. As Dubai continues to innovate and prioritize green initiatives, the extension of this program marks a positive step towards a more sustainable and inclusive future for the city.
