ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar would represent Pakistan at the Extraordinary Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on Saturday (today).
This extraordinary summit has been convened at the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the current Chair of the Islamic Summit, in response to the serious developments facing the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
It aims to come out with a joint Islamic position and action in the face of the brutal and ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and the deteriorating humanitarian situation as a result of the war crimes and brutal massacres committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.
On November 11, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch had said Pakistan welcomed the forthcoming Extraordinary Islamic Summit to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
At her weekly media briefing in Islamabad, she had said the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation had been convened in response to the unprecedented Israeli attacks on Gaza and its environs, which had posed a grave threat to civilian population and precipitated a humanitarian crisis.
She had said Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar would represent Pakistan in the Extraordinary OIC Summit.
The spokesperson had said Pakistan would continue to play its role to advance international consensus and galvanize efforts for an urgent end to Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and urgent provision of relief assistance to the people of Gaza.
