The win was marked by a decisive move around the 20-mile mark, establishing Tola as the 2022 world marathon champion.
In the women’s race, Kenyan runner Hellen Obiri claimed the title with a thrilling sprint finish in 2:27:23. This victory marked her second World Marathon Major title of the year, showcasing her incredible transition from the track to the roads. Notably, Obiri became the first athlete in 34 years to win both the Boston and New York City Marathons in the same season.
These Pakistani runners and the exceptional performances in the New York City Marathon exemplify the spirit of endurance, diversity, and determination that make this event one of the most celebrated marathons in the world.
