The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a significant weather forecast for Lahore and most parts of Punjab, and it appears that dry and cold weather is on the horizon. According to the latest synoptic situation, a continental air mass is currently dominating most regions of the country, resulting in a prediction of dry conditions over the next few days.
Dry Weather Ahead
With the arrival of this continental air mass, Lahore and Punjab are expected to experience dry weather conditions. This forecast covers Friday night and the subsequent two days, offering some respite from recent variations in weather patterns. The absence of precipitation will be particularly noticeable, and residents can expect clear skies during this period.
Chilling temperatures in the hills
As winter inches closer, the hilly regions of Murree, Galliyat, and their surrounding areas are preparing for a drop in temperatures. These areas are known for their natural beauty and are eagerly anticipated by tourists as the possibility of the season’s first snowfall becomes increasingly likely. This chilly weather creates an ideal setting for hot beverages, cozy blankets, and embracing the warmth indoors.
Fog and Smog Concerns
While dry weather brings some relief, it also carries the potential for fog and smog in several cities across Punjab. Areas at risk include Mangla, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore, Okara, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Joharabad, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Motorists and commuters are urged to exercise caution, use headlights and fog lights, and maintain a safe following distance during these foggy conditions. Staying updated on local traffic advisories is essential to ensuring safe travel.
Minimum Temperatures in Lahore
In Lahore, the upcoming nights are expected to be quite chilly. The minimum temperature is projected to range between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 16 and 18 degrees Celsius on Sunday. As the mercury drops, residents are advised to layer up and stay warm, particularly during the evening hours.
Recent weather data
Over the past 24 hours, dry weather has persisted across Punjab. In Murree, the cold embraced the region, with the temperature plummeting to 8 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest place in the province.
