- Says the decision is against constitution
- ECP must reverse their decision of delaying polls
- Commission must conduct transparent elections
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Azhar Siddique on Thursday wrote a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), urged to withdraw the decision of delaying elections in Punjab.
ECP on Wednesday announced the delaying of elections in Punjab by six months, added that the polls will now be held on October 8th.
Advocate Azhar Siddique in his letter said that the decision to postpone elections is against the constitution and the move falls under the category of contempt of court.
He urged the election body to withdraw their decision of delaying the Punjab elections.
ECP has to conduct transparent elections, according to the Constitution and Supreme Court’s order, said Azhar Siddique.
