- Qureshi said 127 FIRs have been registered against Imran Khan
- He said the Minar-e-Pakistan rally will reaffirm quest for real freedom
- He said PTI will resist any resolution against general elections
ISLAMABAD: PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has slammed the treatment of party leaders and workers and sought to resist any attempt to sabotage general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakthtunkhwa.
Speaking to media, the former foreign minister said the world is witnessing the treatment meted out to PTI leaders. He said the cases against him have increased ever since he was released from Attock Jail.
Qureshi said there have been 127 FIRs registered against Imran Khan so far, adding that the main purpose is to embroil the PTI in cases so that the party cannot focus on political activities.
He said Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park was raided on the pretext of a search warrant. “We facing and enduring vindictive politics. The PTI has now become a national force,” he said.
Qureshi said objections have been raised against him in the nomination papers for the Punjab Assembly polls without any evidence. “I am not doing personal but ideological politics. We are fighting for the survival of Pakistan,” he maintained.
The PTI leader said the party will hold a rally in Minar-e-Pakistan on March 25 to reaffirm the quest for ‘Haqiqi Azadi’ (true freedom).
Qureshi said they tried to hold the public gathering before Ramazan but were not granted permission even though the final of the PSL was over. He said PTI will have its sixth meeting under the leadership of Imran Khan.
He also questioned the agenda of the joint session of parliament which has been summoned to condemn the actions of the PTI.
He said the purpose of the meeting is apparently escaping from the election, disqualifying Imran Khan and banning the PTI.
He said the government has announced Rs100 billion flour subsidy but does not have funds for the election. He said the government will challenge any resolution against the election.
He expressed fears that Imran Khan’s life is in danger and the Wazirabad incident was not an assumption and leaders have been targeted in the past.
