LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has changed the date for the public gathering at the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, BOL News reported.

The massive power show will now be held at the iconic location on Saturday, March 25. The decision was made after a meeting by senior PTI leadership to change the date for the public rally.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced a “mega power show” as the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on Wednesday, March 22, on the eve of the Pakistan Day celebrations.

Addressing his supporters via video link from his Zaman Park residence, Imran vowed to hold a “mammoth rally” at Minar-e-Pakistan, which he said would be like a referendum to prove which side the nation stood on.

“We are holding a mammoth public rally. It will be more like a referendum,” he said. “It will tell the nation where the public stands and where the cabal of crooks and their handlers stand,” he added.

Previously, the PTI had announced that it would hold a public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday, March 19. However, the Lahore High Court (LHC) instructed the party to reschedule the rally in consultation with the district administration.

The party was earlier not given permission to hold the public gathering as it coincided with the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The date of the cricket match was also changed and held a day earlier on Saturday, March 18.

Earlier, it was learnt that the caretaker Punjab government decided to allow PTI to hold the public rally but warned of retaliatory action if there is a siege of Zaman Parks.

The authorities said any act of vandalism will not be allowed in the city. The Police also refused to provide security to the public gathering and only to Imran Khan for being a former prime minister.
