- The 27-year-old sustained the injury while playing.
- Matches will be Ecuador’s first under Sanchez.
Midfielder Carlos Gruezo will miss Ecuador’s two friendlies against Australia due to a hamstring tear, according to the South American country’s football federation.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury while playing for the San Jose Earthquakes in their 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Rampage on Saturday.
El Tri manager Felix Sanchez did not immediately name replacements for the pair, according to a report on Monday.
Ecuador and Australia will meet on March 24 in Sydney and four days later in Melbourne.
The matches will be Ecuador’s first under Spanish manager Sanchez, who took over the team earlier this month following the departure of Argentine Gustavo Alfaro in December.
