Taimur Khawaja of Lahore is the new Hub Rally Cross champion after setting the fastest time in the race’s 10th edition on March 19.
Taimur finished the 30-kilometer course in 22 minutes and 29 seconds. Taimur won the race in front of top racers such as Sahibzada Sultan, Nadir Magsi, and Roney Patel to become the new face of Hub Rally.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be here participating in 10th Hub Rally,” said the champion racer. “Alhamdulillah, my first appearance in Hub Rally was fantastic as I won it. Overall, it was a tough competition and I really enjoyed competing among the likes of country’s top racers,” he added.
Taimur took the Hub Rally title from Sultan, who had won the race the previous year. This year, the latter finished second. Nadir, one of the country’s top racers, was unable to complete his race due to a technical problem with his car.
Meanwhile, Dina Patel, the daughter of champion racers Roney and Tishna Patel, won the women’s title. She completed the distance in 27 minutes and 33 seconds. Asif Imam took first place in the Stock A category.
Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, attended the event’s closing ceremony and distributed prizes to the winners.
Tessori praised Hub Rally management for promoting motorsports in Pakistan on this occasion.
“I am surprised to see such a big motorsports event happening between Karachi and Balochistan,” he said.
“I would like to congratulate Hub Rally organisers for this successful event and racers for winning in their respective categories. I hope motorsports flourish in Pakistan,” he concluded.
