- The petition was started by organisation Australian Monarchists League.
An online petition has been created requesting the Australian government to commemorate King Charles’ coronation.
The petition was started by an organisation named the Australian Monarchists League.
The coronation of King Charles will be held on May 6, 2023. The United Kingdom and Canada have both announced public commemorations to mark the occasion, with other Commonwealth Realms anticipated to follow suit.
In a statement, the group stated, “The Australian Monarchist League is calling on the Commonwealth Government to follow the precedent set by successive Australian Governments for the 1902, 1911, 1937 and 1953 coronations of previous Australian Monarchs and give the event its due respect with inclusive and lasting celebrations.”
