LAHORE: Anti-Terrorism Court on Tuesday handed over the five accused in the murder case of PTI worker Ali Bilal to the police on 14-day physical remand.
The ATC approved the remand for the accused including Raja Shakeel, Mohammad Jahanzeb, Umar Farid, Mohsin Shah and Ishtiaq for investigation for which the police sought their remand.
ATC Judge Abhar Gul Khan took up the case, however President Lahore Bar Association Rana Intizaar argued on the behalf of the accused and opposed the physical remand of the accused.
The Race Course Police Station has registered the case against them, who have been arrested for the murder of PTI worker Ali Bilal alias Zille Shah.
It is pertinent to mention here that Lahore police contended that Ali’s death had been caused by a traffic accident. Whereas the PTI demanded a judicial investigation into the death of the worker as it claimed that Ali had been killed by Punjab police at the PTI’s rally in Lahore.

On the other hand, a case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other leaders was lodged at the Sarwar Road Police Station on the complaint of the investigating officer for concealing facts and evidence regarding Ali Bilal’s death. Imran Khan, Yasmin Rashid, Fawad Chaudhry, Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Farrukh Habib were named in the First Information Report (FIR).
PTI senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry questioned if Ali Bilal had died of an accident, why a case was registered against him, Imran Khan and other PTI leaders.
He said that Punjab interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi had registered a failed attempt to wash off the blood of Mr Bilal in his presser on Saturday. “Saturday’s presser proves that Punjab has turned into a breeding ground for false cases”, he added. The party would settle the score, he said, as it did in the cases of the attack on Mr Khan, Arshad Sharif’s murder, and the torture on PTI leaders Shehbaz Gill and Azam Swati.
