Civil Judge Rana Mujahid Raheem had issued a three-page detailed verdict in the case which read that Imran Khan did not appear before the court and filed a plea seeking exemption from appearance. As per the suspect’s lawyer, Imran Khan had security concerns.

“The counsel said on appearance of his client before the court, foolproof security arrangements were not made. A notice was issued on October 10, 2022, to Imran Khan to face the trial. The court approved multiple pleas of Khan seeking exemption from appearance. But after getting several exemptions he still did not appear. Therefore, his plea for exemption is being rejected,” read the verdict.

Issuing non-bailable arrest warrant for the former prime minister, the court had directed police to produce him on March 29.

A team of Islamabad police had reached Lahore through helicopter to arrest Imran.
