• Imran Khan congratulated Xi Jinping on re-election as President of China
• PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Arif Alvi also felicitated as Chinese President
• Xi Jinping secured a historic third term as China’s President

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has congratulated Chinese President XI Jinping on securing a third term.

“Heartiest congratulations to President Xi Jinping on his re-election for a third term as China’s President,” the former prime minister said in a brief statement on Twitter.

In a historic move, Xi Jinping was handed an unprecedented third term as President of China.  The appointment comes after he was handed in October another five years as head of the Chinese Communist party (CCP) and the military.

President Dr Arif Alvi also extended his felicitations to Chinese President Xi Jinping on his unanimous re-election,

On his Twitter handle, the president congratulated President Xi Jinping and said that the ironclad Pakistan-China brotherhood had grown from strength to strength.

“As China’s closest friend and all-weather partners we look forward to working closely with President Xi to take relations to new heights,” he added.

In a separate tweet, the president also congratulated Han Zheng on his new role as Vice President of China. The president further said that Pakistan commended his salutary contributions to this unique interstate friendship.

“I’m confident that our time-tested All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership will continue to thrive for years to come,” he further added.

PM congratulates Xi Jinping        

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitated China’s President Xi Jinping on being elected for the position for third time.

“The confidence of the Chinese people and parliament in President Xi Jinping is a recognition of his extraordinary leadership skills,” the Prime Minister said in a message of greetings on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.

President Xi Jinping was voted unanimously by the People National People’s Congress (NPC), as the President of China for the next five years.

Shehbaz Sharif said, “President Xi Jinping has become a symbol of China’s development and people’s prosperity. Under his leadership, China has become the world’s top economic power and this journey continues.”

The prime minister said under the visionary leadership of President Xi Jinping, China was making remarkable achievements in every sphere, including education, health, agriculture, innovation, and technology.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that the strategic cooperation between the two countries would be further strengthened during the next five-year term of President Xi Jinping. The prime minister extended extends his best wishes to President Xi Jinping, and the government and people of China.
