DOHA: Neymar, a star player for Paris Saint-Germain and a Brazilian footballer, had an ankle injury and will have surgery on it in Qatar under the supervision of a renowned British surgeon, according to the Aspetar hospital.
James Calder will be in charge of the surgery at the sports medicine clinic, the hospital has confirmed.
Clinic stated, “Aspetar’s expert ankle surgeon, Professor Pieter D’Hooghe and renowned ankle surgeon Professor James Calder from London, will perform the surgery.”
The 31-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward had prior treatment at Aspetar in January 2019 with Calder’s assistance.
Neymar is predicted to be out of action for up to four months, thereby ending his season.
Neymar, who has 18 goals for PSG this season across all competitions, promised on Twitter that he would return stronger.
