KARACHI: A report of crimes in Karachi has revealed that 7,000 street crime incidents took place in Karachi during February.

As per the report, 2,255 mobile phones were snatched and 4,054 motorcycles were stolen in Karachi last month. 326 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint.

In February, 163 incidents of vehicle theft took place and 15 citizens were deprived on their vehicles at gunpoint in the megalopolis. In two months, robbers killed 24 citizens. Last month, three incidents of target killing happened. Whereas, more than 25 people were shot and injured during robbery incidents.

On March 4, police had arrested three suspects for robbing nearly sixty million rupees from a builder in Karachi, considered the biggest robbery of the year.

Armed suspects had escaped after looting Rs59.4 million from builder Raheel Abdul Ghaffar in Bahadurabad area of ​​Karachi earlier this week. The businessman had registered an FIR against four unknown suspects.

District East Police had conducted raids in Karachi and Hyderabad and arrested three suspects involved the robbery. SSP East Zubair Nazir had said police also recovered Rs30 million from their possession.

He had said the robbery was done after the criminals received information from the builder’s driver. He had said three suspects including the prime accused had been arrested.

Police had said raids were being conducted to apprehend the other suspects. He had said the accused divided the money among themselves after the robbery.
