President, PM pay tribute to Qavi Khan

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday paid tribute to the legendary artist Qavi Khan, who breathed his last a day ago.

Expressing grief over his death, the president paid tribute to Qavi Khan for his contribution to the field of acting and drama.

“The services of Qavi Khan for Pakistani drama would be long remembered,” he said in a condolence message.

President Alvi prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and for the grant of patience to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned artist Muhammad Qavi Khan.

In a statement, he said Qavi proved his mettle with work in films, television, stage and radio and received accolades from the people.

He said the Pride of Performance and Sitara Imtiaz medals were recognition of his artistic abilities, at the state level.

Qavi Khan started his career as a child artist at Radio Peshawar which showed his natural talent. His acting performance in ‘Lakhon Maen Teen’ and ‘Andhera Ujala’ were still alive in the hearts of people, he added.

The prime minister said death of the senior actor was an irreparable loss for the field of art.

He prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of veteran actor Qavi Khan.

The minister, in a condolence message, prayed to the Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.

She said the demise of Khan was a great loss to the industry. He was not only a good actor but also a thorough gentleman.
