ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested three suspects for robbing nearly sixty million rupees from a builder in Karachi, considered the biggest robbery of the year.
Armed suspects escaped after looting Rs59.4 million from builder Raheel Abdul Ghaffar in Bahadurabad area of Karachi earlier this week on Tuesday. The businessman registered an FIR against four unknown suspects.
District East Police conducted raids in Karachi and Hyderabad and arrested three suspects involved the robbery. SSP East Zubair Nazir said police also recovered Rs30 million from their possession.
He said the robbery was done after the criminals received information from the builder’s driver. He said three suspects including the prime accused have been arrested.
Police said raids are being conducted to apprehend the other suspects. He said the accused divided the money among themselves after the robbery.
He said the information regarding the amount was provided by the driver. He suspect had hid the amount in a bag which was bought for Rs3000. Police said further investigation underway.
A citizen named Raheel Abdul Ghaffar lodged at Bahadurabad police station after he was deprived of a massive amount of nearly sixty million rupees.
According to the plaintiff, he left his office in Bahadurabad at around 11 o’clock on Tuesday in a car with his driver and the money, when he was stopped near a superstore in another car along with two others on a motorcycle.
He said the accused took away his mobile phone from the vehicle and then fled with the vehicle. Raheel said there were more than 5 crore 94 lakh rupees and other valuables in the trunk of the vehicle.
Police registered a case against four suspects. Police recovered the care left by the accused a distance away from the site of the incident.
