LAHORE: Following the announcement of the elections in Punjab, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to start preparing the staff for the polls.
ECP will start the training of master trainers next week and a list of 40 master trainers has been prepared in this regard.
The master trainers will be trained by the senior officers of the Election Commission at the commission’s Secretariat.
The sources privy to the matter have said that the training process will be completed in three to four days. Later, the training of the election staff will be focused.
The Election Commission also asked the provincial election commissioners for the list of election staff.
Pertinently, the date of elections in Punjab has been finalised by President Arif Alvi and the polls will take place on April 30.
The ECP proposed April 30 and May 07 for the elections in Punjab and later April 30 was picked by the president.
The developments surfaced after the ruling passed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan stating that elections in Punjab and KP must be held within 90 days.
