Prince Harry and Meghan would be ‘nothing’ without royal status

  • Specialist believes that Meghan and Harry are more important to the Royal Family.
  • He believes that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should stay with the Firm.
  • He also believes that the royals will remain relevant regardless of the scandal.

According to a reputation and crisis management specialist, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are more important to the Royal Family than they are to them.

According to Edward Coram-James, the UK-based couple faces a challenge with relevancy that the Firm does not now confront.

He was responding to the uproar caused by the publication of Prince Harry’s book and the couple’s Netflix documentary, both of which featured a slew of allegations against the royal family.

He believes that given Prince Harry’s heritage, the titles he and Meghan hold, and the worldwide interest in the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should stay with the Firm.

“From a PR perspective, I’m very much inclined to believe that they need to be royals much more than the royals need them,” he said.

Coram-James said, “The royals will remain relevant regardless. In spite of the scandal that has ensued as a result of the Oprah interview, the docuseries and the book, the royal press machine will know all too well that storylines become old, people move on, and the trick to remaining relevant is to create new narratives and give new hooks.”

He said, “The Royal Family is in no short supply in this regard. Every week sees them embark on some new adventure, or support one of their causes, and thus creating positive headlines.”
