- ECP to sit again on matter of Punjab, KP polls
- The meeting will resume at 11am today
- The CEC will chair the meeting to plan course of action
ISLAMABAD: To discuss the matter of polls in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is to meet again today.
The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja at 11am.
The sources in the know have said that the members of the election commission and the secretary will be participating in the session.
The law wing of the commission will be briefing the participants on the Supreme Court’s ruling in regard to the elections and the legal points relevant to the matter.
It will also be deliberated in the meeting to consult the President and the governor KP over the issue. Not only this, the consultation will be done on writing letters to the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Finance for elections in both provinces.
The letter to the Ministry of Interior will also underscore the issue of security during the polls.
Pertinently, the Supreme Court of Pakistan yesterday pronounced the verdict on the matter of delay in Punjab and KP polls and ordered to hold the elections within 90 days.
