The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is underway as the playoff competition heats up.

Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions, are presently in first place with eight points after five games.

Second-placed Multan Sultans also have eight points, but they have a lower net run rate than the Qalandars do.

Quetta Gladiators are at the bottom of the points standings, followed by Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, and Peshawar Zalmi, accordingly.

On March 19, the final and closing ceremony will take place in Lahore, which will also serve as the site of the playoffs.

The winner will receive a check for Rs120 million in addition to the Supernova Trophy, while the runners-up will receive a check for Rs48 million.

Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times.
