- Lewandowski will miss Thursday’s Copa del Rey semi-final.
- He hopes to be healthy for Barca’s match against Real Madrid.
- Ansu Fati missed Sunday’s loss due to a minor knee injury.
The striker Robert Lewandowski will miss Thursday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg due to a hamstring strain in his left leg, adding to FC Barcelona’s injury woes.
In a statement released on Monday, the team acknowledged the injury and said the timing of his return to play will depend on his rehabilitation.
According to a report, Lewandowski will at best miss Thursday’s matchup with Real Madrid, as well as the home match against Valencia the following weekend and the trip to play Athletic Bilbao seven days later.
He hopes to be healthy for Barca’s match against Real Madrid on March 19, which looks to be a pivotal league matchup.
Since moving to Barcelona from Bayern Munich last summer, the Polish international has been on fire, scoring 15 goals in La Liga, five goals in the Champions League, two goals in the Spanish Super Cup, and one goal in the Europa League.
His setback comes at perhaps the worst possible time for Barcelona, as French winger Ousmane Dembele and international midfielder Pedri are both sidelined for a few more weeks with muscle problems.
Ansu Fati, a young forward for Barcelona, missed Sunday’s loss due to a minor knee injury, according to coach Xavi Hernandez, who added that Fati should be fine for Thursday night’s game.
