The Bosch family has always had a significant impact on how far South African cricket has advanced. Early in the 1990s, the late Tertius Bosch played a crucial role in South Africa’s return to international cricket.
The lanky fast bowler participated in the Proteas’ inaugural ICC World Cup squad in Australasia in the 1992 Bridgetown Test against the West Indies.
Eathan (24) and Corbin (28) Bosch, the sons of Bosch, carried on the family tradition by competing in the first SA20 for the Pretoria Capitals and Paarl Royals, respectively.
In particular, the younger brother Eathan had a tremendous first tournament, leading the Caps to the Wanderers final and the ultimate runners-up spot. He won the SA20 Emerging Star title for his 15 wickets, which he took at an average of 21.40.
Eathan Bosch is proud to have continued his family’s great cricketing legacy with the #Betway #SA20 Rising Star award. 🏏

“It’s not something I thought about at the beginning of the season,” he said. “I didn’t even think I was going to play much. So, to play every game was pretty special.” Bosch faced stiff competition from a host of promising young talented South African players.
MI Dewald Brevis, a kid from Cape Town, scored 235 runs during the competition, while Jordan Hermann, a 21-year-old who was later signed as a wildcard and contributed 183 runs for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, which won the title, also had a significant influence.
“Honestly, I didn’t know about it (Rising Star award) until the semi-final. There were obviously a lot of youngsters that put in incredible performances, so I’m helluva proud to be awarded the prize,” he said.
“I think it’s just a good thing for South African cricket that so many youngsters put up their hands.” Bosch will return to the Dolphins for the remainder of the South African domestic summer and is grateful for the enriching Betway SA20 experience.
“I have definitely learnt a lot. To rub shoulders with all the international guys. It’s been awesome. To learn as much as I have already. Obviously, I can only take it forward in my game,” he added.
