LAHORE: Son of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Zain Qureshi on Thursday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking freedom of his father, Bol News reported.
Zain Qureshi mentioned in his petition that Shah Mahmood Qureshi was kept in solitary confinement. He said police took his father into custody on February 22 and were not apprising about his whereabouts.
He requested the high court to get his father recover from the confinement and order for his release.
The pleas regarding releasing senior PTI leaders Asad Umar, Azam Swati and Senator Waleed Iqbal were also filed in the LHC.

On February 22, the PTI kicked off the “Jail Bharo Tehreek” to fill up prisons as part of protest drive against the government.
In the first phase, PTI senior leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Azam Swati, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, Senator Walid Iqbal along with party workers voluntarily surrendered themselves before Lahore police.
A large number of party activists gathered at Chairing Cross, Mall Road, where Police arrested them for violation of Section 144 imposed to control the law and order situation.
Many party’s senior leaders including Qureshi, Umar, Swati and activists boarded a prison van. Police said the arrest were voluntary and the party leaders sat inside the prison van on their own discretion.
Several other PTI leaders also climbed onto the police vehicle. The PTI workers then got down from the police van and made their way toward Charing Cross.
