Multan Sultans set a goal of 197 runs against Karachi Kings in the eleventh game of the ongoing eighth season of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) on Wednesday at the Multan Cricket Stadium thanks to a brilliant century from captain Mohammad Rizwan.
When given the opportunity to bat first, the home team posted the enormous mark owing to Rizwan’s spectacular performance, which saw him hit 110 runs off only 64 balls.
The Sultans got off to a strong start, but Shoaib Malik delivered the Kings a crucial victory when he sent Shan back to the pavilion and brought the score to 85-1 for the visitors.
Shan, who had struggled in the previous games, found his form again and teamed up with captain Rizwan to give his team a significant advantage. For the first wicket, the two batsman cobbled together an 85-run partnership.
The left-handed batter, who scored 51 runs and lined up six boundaries and a maximum, was forced to leave the field, though.

Rilee Rossouw, who is now in good form, joined the fray and carried on where he left off in the last game. The South African began to score boundaries, but Rizwan was the one who most severely punished the opposing bowlers.
The two batters pulled together an incredible 109-run partnership for the second wicket, but Rizwan was responsible for 77 of those runs.
Rossouw scored 29 runs off 21 balls before dying in the last over.
Earlier, Multan Sultans were the opponent of Karachi Kings, who had won the toss and chosen to bowl first.
With six points after four games, Multan now leads the points standings. After four games, Karachi is ranked fourth with two points.
Multan had won three straight games after losing their initial contest to the defending champion Lahore Qalandars. The host team would like to keep up their winning streak in the competition and solidify their position at the top of the standings.
On the other hand, after suffering three straight losses, Karachi won their first game against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday. The margin of error for Karachi after a shaky start is little, thus they must maintain winning games to keep control of their own destiny.
