In the eighth game of the ongoing eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), played on Sunday at the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi, Karachi Kings set Lahore Qalandars a target of 186 runs.
Imad Wasim and Ben Cutting’s 50-run partnership helped their team produce a respectable total against the defending champions after James Vince’s 46-run performance.
Nevertheless, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled out Ben Cutting (20) by toppling the stumps with a furious delivery.
Imad, the captain of the home team, scored a crucial 35 runs off 19 balls.
The Qalandars took three early wickets to mount a comeback against the Kings prior to the two all-rounders’ partnership.
A 69-run partnership for the first wicket between Vince and Matthew Wade, who were given the opening position, gave their team the upper hand.
The Australian hitter, though, was benched despite having scored 36 runs after a run-out.
The next batsman to bat was Haider Ali, but his time at the plate was short since Liam Dawson knocked him out after he had scored 18 runs.
The home team was in a good position after losing Wade and Haider, but Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan scored to assist their team turn things around.
Rauf dismissed experienced batsman Shoaib Malik (10) and Zaman took Vince’s wickets to bring the score down to 124-4.
The England hitter hit three boundaries and two maximums en route to scoring 46 runs off just 36 balls.
Lahore Qalandars earlier chose to bowl first against Karachi Kings after winning the toss.
