- Maryam Nawaz addressed workers convention in Rawalpindi
- She said PML-N is not running from elections
- She said Imran Khan is hiding in Zaman Park for fear of arrest
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz arrived in Rawalpindi on Sunday as she continues to travel across the country to reorganize the party.
Addressing a workers’ convention, the PML-N leader said the party is running away from elections but has rather entered the field and will win them. “We are not running away from the elections. We have entered the field and will show it by winning the elections,” she exclaimed.
Maryam Nawaz, who last visited the garrison city in July last year as part of her campaign for by-polls, said the people of Rawalpindi have already supported Nawaz Sharif.
“Whether in Lahore or London, the people profess their love for Nawaz Sharif,” she said, adding that every project in Rawalpindi, whether it is the metro bus or cardiology centre, demonstrates support for Nawaz Sharif.
In an indirect jibe at PTI chairman Imran Khan, she said, “There was a leader holed up in Bani Gala for four years, while Nawaz Sharif continues to serve the people. He continues to steal watches.”
She alleged the national exchequer suffered a loss of Rs50 billion during the PTI government. “This watch thief started a ring road project to fill his pockets while the original project was initiated by Shahbaz Sharif.”
Maryam said the country was already in dire conditions when Nawaz Sharif took control but he was “thrown out” after fixing the nation. She said others create problems for the country but only Nawaz Sharif can fix them.
Maryam Nawaz also blamed Imran Khan for the current inflation in the country. She said the PML-N will have the largest support of youth in the next elections.
She said that during Ishaq Dar and Shehbaz Sharif’s negotiations with the IMF, it should have been placed before the global lender that “landmines” were laid by Imran Khan’s government in the agreement.
“The country became poor, Zaman Park became rich. Imran Khan’s wife is involved in his corruption but he claims she is a poor woman,” she added, adding that audio leaks are being released but instead the PML-N is hiding their faces.
Maryam said Imran Khan is not appearing before the court and is making excuses that his leg has been plastered. She said the courts are facilitating Imran but he is still blaming Nawaz Sharif.
She added that Imran is instructing people to fill the jails but is himself staying inside and questioned why the police has not arrived. “We have been imprisoned for six months but have not cried for a single day.”
Maryam Nawaz said that Imran Khan is sitting inside Zaman Park for fear of arrest. She added that PML-N is not running away from the election, but has entered the field and will win the polls.
