Anthony Mackie will soon put on his aviator-style Captain America suit for Captain America: New World Order.
The actor is currently interacting with the media in support of his upcoming Netflix film We Have a Ghost and sharing details about his upcoming superhero role in the MCU.
The actor confirmed that filming will begin in a month and that the cast and crew are “kicking it off and getting ready to go” in an interview with Yahoo.
Due to Mackie’s big-screen debut as Captain America in the fourth installment of the Captain America franchise, expectations are high.
As the cinematic universe moves towards the Multiversal war with Kang, he will keep up the good fight on Earth as he earned his mantle in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Being an Avenger has no benefits, as evidenced by the events of the Disney+ series (unless you’re Scott Lang and write a book about it), and it appears that the theme will carry over to the upcoming film.
“My Captain, in my opinion, is not a superhero. His humanity serves as his superpower since he lacks a super serum “Mackie explains how he created the role.
Sam and Steve Rogers, a character who was out of time and had experienced his fair share of ups and downs in the MCU, have frequently been compared by fans.
Sam “has to come to the stage with a very different understanding of what it is to be a good guy, or to be a bad guy, and what are the decisions that make you toe that line in the way that you do,” according to Mackie about his new role and character arc.
“I just see him as more of a humane Cap, rather than a Cap of judgement, where ‘this is right, and this is wrong,’ there are choices that make you choose right or wrong,” the author continued.
Harrison Ford joins the superhero club in the new film as he replaces William Hurt in the role of Thunderbolt Ross. When asked how it would be to work with him, Mackie joked, “I’ll give him a full (MCU) breakdown, and we’ll compare notes. I’m very enthusiastic about it.
Danny Ramirez plays Joaqun Torres, aka the New Falcon, Tim Blake Nelson plays Samuel Sterns/Leader, Carl Lumbly plays Isaiah Bradley, and Shira Haas plays Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra in Julius Onah’s feature film.
The release date for Captain America: New World Order is set for May 3, 2024.
Below are Mackie’s comments, which you can read:
I talked to Anthony Mackie about Captain America: New World Order status (a month from shooting), how his Cap will differ from Chris Evans’ (more humanity, more spandex) and if he’s gonna be the one explaining the MCU to Harrison Ford (“I’m gonna give him a full breakdown”). pic.twitter.com/eFLFsbOr6i
