Babar Azam, the new captain of Peshawar Zalmi, is eager to take on a fresh challenge in the Pakistan Super League this season (PSL).
Speaking to the media the day before their PSL 8 opener against Karachi Kings, Babar stated he enjoyed his time with Kings but that he is now determined to lead Zalmi from the front.
“I spent six seasons with Karachi on the field. It was a good moment and seemed like a family to me “shared the most runs scored in the PSL.
“Now it’s my turn to lead Peshawar, where I also feel at home. I’ve had the same love and support here, and I’m excited to keep performing for Peshawar “said the hitter, who was right-handed.
Zalmi spent the last week undergoing hard training sessions under the supervision of Babar. Babar, who was named ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2022, was seen working hard in the nets in preparation for the competition.
Babar said he always attempts to introduce variety to his batting by practising new shots and focusing on different techniques.
“For me, learning never ends. It’s part of my habit to conduct intensive practise, and my day would be incomplete without it “He emphasised.
“When it comes to training, I try not to be picky. I try and practise in any way possible in order to improve “He went on to say.
With an average of 42.33 runs per PSL game, Babar has amassed 2413 runs to far. He has 23 PSL fifties to his name.
