Mohammad Hafeez, a seasoned Pakistani all-rounder, has joined Quetta Gladiators in preparation for the eighth Pakistan Super League season (PSL).
Hafeez will represent his third franchise in the competition, having previously played for the Peshawar Zalmi and the Lahore Qalandars.
Ahsan Ali, who is injured, will be replaced by Hafeez in the Gladiators’ lineup.
Over the course of his career, the right-hander has participated in 367 T20 games and amassed 7,811 runs with the help of two hundreds and 43 fifties.
Additionally, the off-spinner has 202 wickets to his credit and a respectable economy rate of 6.42.
It should be noted that PSL 8’s opening ceremony will take place in Multan today (Monday), before the competition’s first match between the 2021 champions Multan Sultans and the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars; in contrast, the tournament’s closing ceremony and final will be held on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host the play-offs.
In addition to receiving the Supernova Trophy, the victor will also receive a check for Rs120 million, while the losers will each receive a check for Rs48 million.
Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times.
Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.
Matches in the afternoon will begin at 2 p.m. local time, while matches in the evening will begin at 7 p.m. local time in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Except for the tournament’s first match, which will start at 8 p.m., evening matches in Multan will start at 6 p.m.
