LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan said Monday that excuses are being made for holding elections while the constitution says that elections should be held within 90 days and not holding elections is a violation of the constitution.
Addressing scholars and students through a video link in Lahore he said that Pakistan was founded in the name of Islam however other countries that have been following the principles of Islam are progressing.
He said that slaves have never done great things, “Mental slavery is more dangerous than physical slavery and accepting mental and cultural influence is also slavery.”
The former prime minister said that foreign policy should be independent adding that the policy should not be to please anyone, independent foreign policy means protecting the interests of the people, but Pakistan participated in the war to please America for dollars.
“80 thousand lives were sacrificed in the war.”
Imran Khan said that excuses are being made for holding elections in Punjab, the constitution says that elections should be held in 90 days, but the government is making excuse that there is no money to hold elections, “Not holding elections is a violation of the constitution.”
