Prior to the eighth season of the competition, Islamabad United of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) won’t be able to train at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly refused United’s request to hold some practise sessions on their home field for logistical and security grounds.

Later today, players from Islamabad will travel to Karachi for training. Shadab Khan, who would enter the camp a day later owing to his wedding, will not be a part of the United contingent.

All teams are preparing in Karachi, with the exception of Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars, who will play the PSL’s first game on February 13 in Multan.

On February 16, Islamabad United will face Karachi Kings in their opening game at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.

United would like to win the championship this year after losing in the second round of elimination in PSL 7.

On March 19, the PSL final and closing ceremony will take place in Lahore, which will also serve as the site of the playoffs.

Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times.

Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.
