ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said the government was determined to put economy on positive trajectory despite all the challenges.
He said this while talking to Chief Economist of Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank Erik Berglof who called on him in Islamabad.
The finance minister shared the current economic outlook of the country and briefed the delegation about the economic policies and reforms of the government for sustainable economic development and social uplift of the poor segment of society.

He apprised the delegation of the economic losses due to the devastating floods in Pakistan and rehabilitation and reconstruction in the flood affected areas.
The visiting dignitary appreciated the economic policies and reforms of the government for social uplift of the people.
Erik Berglof highlighted the role of AIIB in infrastructure development projects and investment in Pakistan and discussed future cooperation in development projects especially on climate resilience.
On February 2, Ishaq Dar had expressed the government’s resolve to make all out efforts to transform banking system in accordance with the Islamic teachings and injunctions.
Virtually addressing the ‘National Islamic Economic Forum’s conference on Roadmap for Islamization of the Economy’, he had said it was a big challenge to switch over the prevailing banking system according to Shariat. However, it was our desire to get rid of the interest-based banking system as soon as possible.
The finance minister had expressed his government’s determination to make Pakistan an economic power after nuclear power.
He had said Islamic banking was flourishing in the country and recommendations of the forum would auger well for eliminating interest-based system from the country.
