The Tent Pegging World Cup qualifiers are set to begin in Pakistan on February 15, and the Equestrian Federation of Pakistan (ECP) has decided on a five-person team.
Following extensive selection processes, Irfan Wattoo, Wajahatullah Khan, Nasir Abbas, Tasawur Abbas Lak, and Fazeel Amjad Bhatti have been chosen to represent Pakistan at the competition.
Haroon Bandial was appointed the team’s head coach in the meanwhile.
“We have completed all preparations because Pakistan is hosting such a large event for the first time,” stated EFP President Sultan Mohammad Ali.
“Pakistani horses are admired all over the world. “We hope that our performances live up to this expectation,” he continued.
It is important to note that Pakistan was given the chance to host the Tent Pegging World Cup Qualifiers after India was stripped of the privilege last year for allowing Indian players to participate for Nepal’s squad illegally.
The event will feature six teams, including hosts Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, Belarus, Iran, and Syria.
