Pakistan, Sri Lanka agree to enhance bilateral cooperation

COLOMBO: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Ali Sabry on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to the close and friendly relations between the two countries.

The minister of state congratulated foreign minister Sabry on Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Sri Lanka’s independence. They held a meeting on the sidelines of the Sri Lanka independence festivities.

They discussed the whole range of bilateral relations and agreed to enhance multidimensional bilateral cooperation in political, economic and commercial, defence and education domains.

The two foreign ministers also agreed to continue cooperation at various international forums, including the United Nations and the South Asian Association for the Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

During the visit, Hina Rabbani Khar held a meeting with Bangladeshi Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen.

They discussed mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, especially in economy and trade. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Sri Lanka independence festivities.

Hina Rabbani Khar has been in Colombo on a two days official visit. She is visiting to attend 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka as a guest of honour.
