PESHAWAR: At least 93 people were killed and more than 150 people were hurt in the deadly suicide bombing inside a mosque in Peshawar’s Police Lines neighbourhood on Monday, which also claimed the lives of two police officers, BOL News reported.
Security officials claim that the suicide bomber was present in the front row during the prayers when he detonated himself, hurting numerous devoted people who were praying the Zohr.
The injured were taken to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
Two officers lost their lives in the explosion, and 93 people were sent to the hospital with injuries, according to a hospital spokesperson. According to physicians, more than 10 injured people were in critical condition.
Citizens have been urged by the hospital to donate blood in support of the victims.
An eyewitness claimed to have been on his way to the mosque when the explosion happened.
“There was a large explosion. After the explosion, there was smoke everywhere, the witness claimed. When he awoke, he continued, he watched the mosque’s roof crumble.
“At least 120 individuals were present in the mosque when the tragedy occurred. The bomber was inside the mosque’s inner courtyard, hence it was a suicide attack. It occurred while the Zohr prayers were beginning. The injured were primarily police officers, according to the witness.
