The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recalled national players who are currently competing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in preparation for the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

According to the PCB, the players who will compete in the PSL 8 have been recalled at the request of the franchises.

The players have been told to return home on February 2, just eleven days before the start of the PSL 8 in Multan.

However, the national cricket governing body stated that it had previously allowed the players to return until February 8, but the franchises urged the board to call back the players earlier as the teams wanted them fresh ahead of the PCB’s marquee event.

It is worth noting that top players from the national T20 side, including Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Naseem Shah, are taking part in the BPL 2023.

After a lively opening ceremony, the PSL 8 will begin on February 13 with defending champions Lahore Qalandars taking on 2021 champions Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, the PSL 8 replacement draught, which was scheduled for January 24, has been rescheduled for January 25 due to a nationwide power outage on Monday.

According to the PCB, franchises requested more time to finalize their selections.

The PCB has also approved franchises’ request to expand the pool of players. Franchises will now select two players from the supplementary category to round out a squad of 20.
