PCB delayed PSL 2023 Draft till January 25

  • The Pakistan Super League Replacement Draft has been pushed back.
  • The franchises have requested an additional day to make their selections.
  • Zalmi vs. Qalandars and Islamabad United vs. Multan Sultans are featured fixtures.

PSL 2023: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the decision to push back the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Replacement Draft till January 25 in response to a power outage that left the entire country without power on Monday.

The replacement draught was originally scheduled for January 24, but the franchises have requested more time to make their selections.

Due to yesterday’s power outage, the franchises have requested an additional day, according to a PCB official.

The PCB had already agreed to raise the number of players per side to 20, allowing each franchise to select two additional Supplementary players, at the franchises’ request. The Replacement Draft, which is now scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, will select the Supplementary players.

The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place on February 13 in Multan before the tournament’s first match between the 2021 champions Multan Sultans and the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars; the tournament’s closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.

Lahore Qalandars will try to become the first team to win consecutive championships, while Islamabad United will try to make history by winning the trophy three times.

Each team will play five home games: one each versus Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, and Karachi Kings.

Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.

The lone doubleheader, featuring Peshawar Zalmi vs. Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United vs. Multan Sultans on March 7, will be held at Rawalpindi.

The 34-day, 34-match tournament will feature more than 36 foreign players from 10 T20I-playing nations.
