- Afghanistan and Pakistan are expected to play three T20I in Sharjah.
- The series will be played after the conclusion of PSL season 8.
- Australia’s series was cancelled due to violations of women’s rights.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are expected to play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in Sharjah following the conclusion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 on March 19 in Lahore.
In an effort to show solidarity for the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) following Australia’s cancellation of their series against them due to violations of women’s rights in their country.
In a news conference in Lahore on Monday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) current chief Najam Sethi stated that the PCB was not interested in accepting the ACB’s request to play three ODIs, but three T20Is may be an option if the Pakistani government approves.
“I met with ACB officials and we discuss the possibility of three ODIs. My point of view was that ODIs wouldn’t benefit any of the two countries. We came to the conclusion that subject to the government’s approval, Pakistan and Afghanistan will play three T20I matches in Sharjah, just after the conclusion of PSL 8 and before the arrival of New Zealand.” he shared.
The profit of the series will be shared equally between PCB and ACB.
