On Thursday, when thousands of soccer fans attempted to enter the stadium, there was a rush near a soccer stadium in Basra, southern Iraq, which resulted in one fatality and numerous injuries.
For the first time in forty years, Iraq is hosting the Arabian Gulf Cup, and on Thursday, they were scheduled to play Oman in the championship game.
According to Basra governor Asaad Abdel Amir, the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation is thinking about transferring the championship game to a different nation or postponing it if the security situation does not improve.
According to security and medical officials, the rush, which left 83 other people hurt, happened close to the entrance to the Sports City, which was scheduled to hold the championship game.
