- US Ambassador Donald Blome visited IT Ministry
- IT minister said there were numerous opportunities for US tech companies
- He stressed on enhancing Pak-US cooperation in IT and telecom sector
ISLAMABAD: United States Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome called on Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haque.
The federal minister welcomed the US Ambassador in his office, and matters of mutual interest and related to IT and Telecommunication were discussed during the meeting.
Talking to US Ambassador, the minister said there were numerous opportunities for US tech companies in the IT and telecom sector of Pakistan.
He said that there was dire need of enhancing Pak-US cooperation in IT and telecom sector besides boosting business ties.
He noted that work was underway over 70 connectivity projects worth Rs 65 billion for ensuring connectivity across the country.
The minister that Personal Data Protection Bill and Social Media Rules are business friendly and will be forwarded to relevant forums for approval within three to four weeks.
US Ambassador Donald Blome said that Pakistan was getting important place in technology world. He also emphasised upon increasing cooperation in IT and telecom sector between the two countries.
Additional Secretary (Incharge), MoITT Mohsin Mushtaq, Additional Secretary, MoITT Aisha Humera Moriani, Member IT Syed Junaid Imam and DG International Coordination Sayed Jawwad Ali were also present.
