According to a representative for Transworld Books, a UK part of Penguin Random House, the royal correspondent Omid Scobie stated that Prince Harry’s book Spare has already sold 750,000 copies across all formats in the UK.
“This makes it not only the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time but also the biggest selling memoir,” said the Scobie, the author of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s unauthorized biography “Finding Freedom.”
After days of TV interviews, leaks, and an incorrect early publication of the memoir featuring private secrets about the British royal family, “Spare” became the UK’s fastest selling non-fiction book ever.
With its admissions of his personal struggles and criticisms of other royals, including his father King Charles, stepmother Camilla, and older brother Prince William, Harry’s book has drawn attention from all over the world.
Following their Netflix documentary from last month, “Spare” is the latest enlightening work from Harry and his wife Meghan since they retired from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California to start again.
The royal family has not made any comments either the book or the interviews, and they are not likely to do so.
On Thursday, when the book’s Spanish-language edition unintentionally went on sale in some bookshops in Spain, excerpts from it were leaked.
Harry discusses his upbringing after his mother Princess Diana passed away when he was just 12 years old, his use of cocaine and other drugs as a coping mechanism, how he killed 25 Taliban terrorists while serving as a soldier in Afghanistan, and even how he lost his virginity.
