PCB plans to separate Women’s Super League from PSL

  • The Women’s Super League will no longer be a part of PSL.
  • There will be separate bids for each of the five franchise teams in women’s league.
  • World-class female cricketers have already expressed interest.

The Women’s League will no longer be a part of the Pakistan Super League, according to the management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which is chaired by Najam Sethi.

The first Women’s Super League, which will be conducted as a distinct event from the PSL, has been given the window of September this year by the PCB.

There will be separate bids for each of the five franchise teams in the women’s league.

World-class female cricketers have already expressed interest in taking part in the PCB’s tournament.

It should be recalled that the PCB had previously planned to host the women’s league concurrently with the eighth season of the PSL, under the direction of former chairman Ramiz Raja.

The sources further stated that the national cricket governing body intends to retain United Nations-affiliated international women’s organisations, such as the Malala Foundation, on board for the women’s league in order to promote Pakistan’s positive image through the competition.

The PSL 8 is scheduled to take place in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan from February 13 to March 19.
