Apparently, the prime minister has “rewarded” the judge after his retirement for his “favour” to him. The judge had vindicated Shehbaz and his son Hamza Shahbaz in the money laundering/ TTs case.
A notification issued in this regard states, “The prime minister has been pleased to appoint Mr Ijaz Hassan Awan, as Information Commission, Pakistan Information Commission, Ministry of Informationa and Broadcasting, in terms of Section 18 (3) (a) & (b) read with Section 18 (6) of the Rigght of Access to Information Act, 2017, with monthly pay and emoluments equivalent to minimum of MP-II Scale, with immediate effect and until further orders.”
On October 12, a special court (central-I) had acquitted PM Shehbaz Sharif and his son former chief minister Punjab Hamza Shehbaz in a Rs16 billion money laundering case made by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after accepting their acquittal applications.
Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz had appeared before the court along with their counsel.
After hearing arguments, the presiding Judge Ijaz Hassan had reserved the judgment which was announced later.
